ADOPTION: How to deal with ignorance

I have learned very quickly that people say the stupidest things to parents adopting…I mean, just ridiculously rude comments that seriously has me questioning the intelligence of humanity in our current culture.

Want to hear one of the best comments I have heard? Get ready for it… because it’s a shocker!

“I am so sick of white people adopting black babies and changing their names & identity” SMFH here!

The racism is whoa. But in all honestly, I love setting people straight…so I did! If you have an issue confronting people on hard issues… adoption may not be for you. It takes a strong backbone. And unfortunately, the only thing that shuts people up is education on the topic. Our adoption agency sent me a great article from an adoptive mama written to her family & friends on how to appropriately speak about adoption. Its a great read!
